From Pekan to Narita.

Ze familia will be leaving to Japan tonight, midnight, to be exact & I have my final submission and presentation tomorrow. How sweet.

Since a picture is worth a thousand words, I'll let you do your own interpretation/assumption (?) on how I'm currently feeling. I don't think I should remind you that I have two pictures.

To err is human, to arr is pirate.

Changing my facebook language from normal English to Pirate English makes me confused, more than ever.

Oh, happy birthday in advance, Xxeemm!

Wednesday, October 8

I am speechless.

I want. Alot. Of things.

Raya : Part II

There are alot of things to be said about the current state of mind. People leaving, people decided to leave, the return of people who left. All of these has given me a mixture of undecided emotions, but I'll save the emotions for myself as Raya has reminded me on who keeps track of my life through this little space of self expression I call my blog.

So, we'll just proceed to the annual obligatory Raya post, shall we?

1. I think this is the first time in many many many years that the girls and the mum wear baju kurungs with the same identical pattern. It felt weird parading around on the first day of Raya in that dress, and as if it wasn't obvious enough, a makcik at the mosque asked my sister whether the four of us were siblings. D'uh?

The sisters, on the first day of raya

2. The number of people coming to Aunt Mah's house on the first day of Raya was totally astounding that it was hard to escape. We only managed to go out at about 3pm and even then, we were already at the door when a car full of guests came and Aunt Mah had to entertain them while we fled off to Tanjung.

3. Ayah has always named Nasi Dagang Tanjung as the best Nasi Dagang in the world, only to be disappointed when told that his half aunt doesn't make it anymore, and the one that he was eating was ordered from someone else. It was still scrumptious though.

Ayah and Akashah digging in

4. Aliya and I were the assigned 'pembasuh pinggan's for this Raya. Aliya just entered Gombak this semester and we had something in common to talk about.

Aliya is the one sitting on a chair, although I doubt you are able to see one

5. An evening at Tok Teh's house in Pulau Duyong is always laughter inducing, especially when we have Ayah Mat around. He is naughty, and everyone in the family knows that. And on the other hand, Tok Teh is always confused. I think we they literally rolled on the floor laughing at Tok Teh's antics, and having Ayah Mat teasing her playfully made it funnier.

"Mati tu bahasa Melayu. Meninggal dunia tu bahasa orang putih,"

Ayah Mat and Ayah, the brothers.

6. Jaddid the moody brother has finally admitted that spending Raya in Terengganu as fun. How could he not, when he had Aiman and Arif to wreck the house together with?

7. Speaking of wrecking the house, Aunt Mah's house was some sort of a place for wildlife creatures on the second day of Raya, as Kak Linda and Abang Onn arrived. It was crazily filled with laughter and kids running around the house but I wasn't annoyed, I was more than amused. It brought me back to the younger days when my siblings and Pak Chan's kids used to play around in that house, tried to find a way to get to the office at the attic and found secret places to hide while playing hide and seek.

8. Luqman Avicenna as he was named, is a peculiar nephew of mine. As Kak Linda described him, this eleven-year-old likes to sit in a corner and read a book rather than mingle around with his cousins. Later on, he felt challenged because he was called a geek, so he joined the other kids to play. His family was going to Kota Bharu as the next stop. When he found out that we had mercuns, he wore a mask and pretended to be Mr. Jacob and asked everyone to keep his mum busy so that he could delay the journey and play with them as well.

"Keep my mum busy. Talk about fashion or something."
"Luqman, we don't talk about fashion."
"I don't know what you girls talk about. Talk about men."
"But your mum is married!"

9. Ayah went on to promote geni to the rest of his family. They were amused to see Wan Iskandar Jamie's picture that Annelise had posted. Alot more people are joining in. Geni should give Ayah some sort of commission.

10. Pak Teh's family arrived later in the evening on the second day of Raya. I was anticipating Kak Muni and her kids but she didn't come. However, there were Kak Alin and Aji. We sang the birthday song as it was Aji's 27 birthday. He was in denial, and said that he's only 25. Bah. & at 27, he still received some duit raya from the people at Tok Su's. Hehhhhhh.

11. I love kuih sarang semut. And they have it with M&M's on top!

12. And just for kicks, and to wrap up this whole entry, sisterly love, much?

I think this series will have a Part III. Here for her version. At the time I'm typing this, she's still typing. She's up to something.

Raya part 1.

Raya has been fabulous. (In my heart, I'd say that it better be fabulous because having no family in Malaysia for almost half a year would mean seeing the extended family members a little lesser).

But really, I was expecting Raya to be, well, mediocre, considering the fact that the family was saving for their trip to Japan, and because I was sick a day before eid.

As it turns out, it was fun. I will elaborate later in another post. I am now in Awana Kijal, and it's already Maghrib, so I better head upstairs.

By the way, prior to typing this entry, about 5 minutes earlier as I was uploading the photos, I had an encounter with a familiar face : my studio supervisor.

What a peculiar encounter. It was pleasant to see him here, but his presence is as though trying to remind me that I still have tons of work to do. Sigh.

They put pelita in front of the studio and played with bunga api and mercuns.

Dearest ramadhan, I hope we will meet again. I am not sure if I have been good to you, but you sure have been good to me.

1. Was able to rekindle distanced friendships due to having alot of iftars together.
2. Had fun with the girls at Moon's residence.
3. I've received alot of reminders for the betterment of myself.
4. I've learnt to be patient.
5. Knowing that there is a time and place for everything. :)
6. I actually disciplined myself to perform tarawikh despite not being able to do it congregationally.

[*iklan sekejap sebab Izzatie baru pass a cd to Wai and we've all just seen it together* *ehem*, this goes to wai's friends : Amalina, Zatie, Ili, Sienah, dan kawan-kawan Wai yang lain, you guys are so nice lah. Menyebabkan orang lain yang takde kena mengena i.e; me, terharu bagi pihak Wai.

The video you did for wai is sooooooooooooooo adorable! Sangatttt!]

For those of you who don't know who Wai is, she is my 16 year old sister. Well, she turned 16 4 days ago. I have 3 sisters. And they're all the same size as I am. Which explains why my room is currently messy. Kak Milah the maid stores everything in my wardrobe because she doesn't know which belongs to whom, and so when the time for packing arrives, there'll be 'the seasonal trying out clothes and throwing everything on the floor'. Case in point;

On the bicycle is Wai/ Wanju/ Wan Juwairiah/ or gemok, wearing MY baju kurung, MY black tudung, MY brown handbag and Najah's shoes.

(I typed all of the above when I was still at home, tapi the video upload lama sangatlah, so I decided to upload it upon arriving instead)

I am now in Kuala Kangsar. The journey to Mama's hometown was pleasant. We'll be going to Kuala Terengganu pulak on Monday (kot). Terengganu is dad's hometown. Extra points for me for getting 3 scoops of Baskin Robbins ice cream for the price of two when we were at the Tapah rest area (the BR dude was trying to flirt with me, haha. Sometimes when I'm in a good mood, I do enjoy being flirted with - kinda makes me feel attractive, lol!).

Anyone who's going to celebrate Eid in Kuala Terengganu, do text me, or just leave a comment. Maybe I'll pay a visit or we could arrange to meet up. :)

Anyway, hope everyone will have a nice holiday. I'm still not going to wish you a happy Eid yet. Let's just savour the last days of Ramadhan.
